Great meal! There was 5 of us everyone was happy! Everything was fresh, cooked perfect. Excellent service and atmosphere!
It's too bad the food quality isn't consistent otherwise this would be one of my fave places.
Both the beef and pasta specials were delicious. Beautiful presentation and intense flavors. And the salmon with sweet potato hash shined as always. Rachel's service was perfect as usual. Thanks Roots! Another fantastic night!
I keep wanting to love roots, but the quality is extremely hit or miss. When you go on a night were the food quality is up the experience is outstanding and makes you want to come back for more. However, when you hit them on a low quality night the food is not even edible. Two nights ago we threw away $50 worth of greasy, sloppy, flavorless mush after two bites and ended up eating canned tuna which was way tastier.
That being said the front of the house staff makes the experience at roots delightful especially Karri and Rachel.
The staff was lovely. We arrived without a reservation, and they made room for us anyway! GF food aplenty, amazing drink menu crafted from local spirits, and outstanding vegetarian options. We were hungry when we arrived and full when we departed. Thanks, Roots, for a wonderful dining experience. We will be back.
Unfortunately the quality is a miss more often then it is a hit, which has been really disappointing. It seems that when we give roots another chance the week after they've changed their menu for the season the food is phenomenal and are left thinking maybe roots had finally hit that consistent level of quality that we have been hoping for in the Rutland area... only to be extremely disappointed again and again.
Love Roots! The food is always outstanding. The drinks creative and service excellent.
